The Week Ahead: Days 52-54

Only a three-day week ahead due to the Thanksgiving break. We will not be doing rotations this week so all kids will be staying in our homeroom for all lessons.

Kids meet in their literature circles Monday. While with their book group they share and discuss their job sheets as well as assign new job sheets and a reading assignment for the next time they meet.

Tuesday and Wednesday we will be reading and learning some new vocabulary with the Scholastic book story called Mistakes That Worked. The Scholastic book’s theme for these six weeks is “What An Idea” and contains stories about inventions and problem solving.

We will be doing several math activities this week. Monday we head to the computer lab and practice our facts online. Tuesday and Wednesday we will practice problem solving using the newly learned mathematizing problem solving strategies.

Spelling Contract #9 is assigned Monday as well as a new story of the week. This one will not be going into their writing portfolio as it is going to be written in a group activity.
