Week 4 Spelling

We are starting week 4 of our spelling for the year. Included in this article you will find a list of this week’s words. We take a preview (pre test) at the beginning of the week and then a review (post test) the same day to assign the following week’s words. The kids are assigned a spelling contract in which they need to complete throughout that week.

Some of the words on the challenge list may look less than challenging. I use the words from a list of the 1000 most frequently used words in the order they are used. The challenge words lists start at frequency 500 and continue through 1000. Some of those words are easier than others but I will continue to include them as I value the use of these words just as much or more than being able to spell them correctly. We will expand vocabulary utilizing more difficult words in other reading and word-of-the-day activities.
