The Week Ahead: Days 37-41

Wow! It is already Halloween! The days are going fast and so is the light in the afternoons. This week, as always, will be full of new learning. In reading we will be ending our group literature circle with the wonderful book, The Van Gogh Café, and starting individually leveled groups that are working on different books, each using the six literature circle jobs that were learned last week. Writing will include learning about the six trait, Organization, as well as adding to our online journal weblog. Health will teach about needs and feelings and our learning project will include writing skits in groups and performing them in a couple weeks. In social studies, Mrs. Anderson will be teaching about growing seasons and the natural resource of coal. She will also be talking about Washington D.C. and her recent trip there. Math will be more division practice with Mr. Vanderport and fact fluency and problem solving strategies in the home-room. The grade four teachers will be gone Thursday afternoon so the kids will have a guest teacher from 12:00 to 3:45. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
