The First Four Days
The first four days of the school year were full of meeting and greeting, sharing, and group activities. We had a great time learning each other's names, learning procedures, role playing problem solving strategies, and getting used to working as a group. We learned how to create a rainstorm while teaching team building skills, played "That's Me" to learn some unique information about ourselves, and played a group activity called "Crazy Chairs”.
Many of the activities listed above are from the Responsive Classroom Model and are included in our daily morning meetings that we use to start each day. More information on morning meetings and the Responsive Classroom philosophy can be found at the web site:

If you would like to attend a morning meeting please feel free to come in any day at 8:55 a.m.
Our first writing project was creating a list of our hopes and dreams for the upcoming school year. We are also writing a story about family. We will begin doing more projects and work and will define our homework policy and weekly assignments in upcoming newsletters.
Activities for this week and next week include switching classes for the first time, getting into the science and computer labs and learning about our trip to Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center. Look for more academic work to be coming over the next week.
